Lucifer is a 20 year old half moon Conjure. We adopted her from my mom in law about 6 months ago. She never really got handled before but she was really fond of my husband. She was really aggressive towards the end, but would always let me take her out of her cage. when we got her and transplant her into a new cage she did really well for the first couple weeks didn't try to bite once coming out of the cage. That faded fast tho. Putting food and water in is hilarious. Taking her out of the cage is horrible, you either have to corner her with a perch until she steps up. Or go for gusto an add another bloody bite to your hand. But once she's out after a few minutes she's her lovable self again. Not sure what to do. uploadfromtaptalk1436085071727.jpg

Open the cage and let her out on her own?

Just opening the cage worked for me. It took a few days for them to come out. Now I can't open the door fast enough lol. Seriously though more often than not the budgies are out as soon ad the opening is big enough for them to squeeze out.

By all means, the bird is very territorial over her cage! Let her come out on the door on her own. She hasn't given you permission to be in her home yet and is very upset with what she sees as an offense move!

I can suggest a different way to approach letting her out.
What I do with my gcc is have him go up to a specific perch and let me give him scritch through the bars, then i tap a perch by the door of his cage and once he gets to it he can come out.
If it does it all then he comes out, if not then we wait until he does.
Maybe try something similar?

I tried letting her come out the doors on her own. She wanted to bite my hand each time I approached her. But I offered her a perch and she jumped right on and was fine the rest of the time she was out. We'll keep working at it, I'll post periodically for progress. Thanks for the suggestions.
