There is no telling if your bird was already a little bit ill and it just flared, or if something else happened... so do not play the blame-game.
You did great in retracing your steps so you can avoid more pittfalls in the future - and that is all you can do, so ...

go to work (cleaning and mending)

Just clean everything with this F10 stuff everyone keeps talking about, or something else that desinfects any possible pathogenes to kingdom-come, rinse well, dry
and yes DO cry a lot while doing this, I think we all would, given the situation.
Cages, toys anything that can de desinfected -> clean and dry, anything that cannot be treated that way: chuck it
(yes more crying is actually recommended, being brokenhearted is bad enough without letting it build up, you are not a bad person!)

After that decide to either put everything in storage or keep them where they were untill your next bird finds you. (there are so many birds out there looking for a parrotperson, if you are open to one - they will show up! I can guarantee that.)

"sterkte"

I am so very sorry that this happened. I think there is lots of good information on here thus far and I do hope your aren't beating yourself up too much...

I just wanted to mention that, when diluted according to various recommended/ratios, the clear/yellowish F10 SC doesn't have to be rinsed off. Once dry, your bird can come into contact with it and you can spray around your bird safely.

Re: Pineapple GCC Suddenly Died

It does sound like some kind of infection.
birds are experts at hiding an illness until it's too late to do anything about it.

Re: Pineapple GCC Suddenly Died

The F10SC is the safest disinfectant you can use around our fids. Vets even use it at times to nebulize(siq) birds with respiratory infections.

It is the only disinfectant in use in this house. I even use a diluted dose in the humidifiers to combat mold in the units.

Re: Pineapple GCC Suddenly Died

My deepest condolences for your loss of Groovy. Birds wrap themselves into our psyche and their absence can be paralyzing. You've joined a community of extraordinarily empathetic folks, many have traveled this path.
