So it’s been a few months since I have posted about this little guy. Everything is well and he’s super lovable towards me, but he nips at my family members. He still iffy with hands. I’m going to start training him soon, any suggestions on what treats I should use and also should I use clicker training?! All feedback helps :):red:

Glad things are going well! It can happen that a bird starts to become focused on one person and be defensive toward others. It might help to have others be the “giver of special treats”, not necessarily to handle him - but to try bribing to defuse the aggressive type behaviors before they become an ingrained habit for him.

It’s never too early to start training little things. Lots of options for training treats, but I tend to use tiny bits of whatever they LOVE the best (and they don’t get it any other time except training). Some to try - safflower, pine nuts, tiny bits of fruit, a seed that is favored. Mine love nutriberries - I crush them with my hand onto the countertop and they sometimes get little bits of them for training treats. They might end up eating 1/4 of a nutriberry during training, but they think it’s awesome and I don’t worry that they are being over fed on treats.

Mine are all flighted and sometimes it’s tough to get them back in for bed - I’ve reserved tiny bits of apple as the bedtime treat they get when they go in for the night (they don’t get them any other time). All I have to say now is “apple time” and everyone takes off back to respective cages. Training is really all about positive reinforcement and forming good habits :).
