I was just looking at the thread about safe wood for birds and it looks like Grape Vine (not sprayed with anything of course) is a safe bet. I've used grape vine for crafts for ever (wreaths and dream catchers mostly) and I think I may make a long twisted and/or braided (for thickness) perch for the Meyers' new cage when it arrives. When it dries it's very strong and stiff.

Has anyone every done this? I'm kind of excited about this little idear.

I made a wooden stand out of grape vines once. My parents had a lot growing on their property so I had my choice of size and was able to get some pretty big pieces. It came out looking really good.
