Hi everybody,

I have another question for you. Once a week I spray tan at home, in the bathroom. Obviously it wouldn't be safe for a bird to be breathing in the chemicals from the solution, but I'm wondering if it's OK to continue spray tanning in the bathroom (door shut, fan on)?

My plan would be to bathe the bird prior to the tanning so the bathroom is safe. Also, I would sleep in my bedroom (door shut) away from the cage so until I shower the next morning the odour from the tan would not be near the bird.

Does this sound reasonable?

A second question I have is the use of candles. I know beeswax candles/natural are OK but can I still use "normal" candles in the bathroom? Again, door shut, fan on after?

I assume as long as scents are only being used behind a closed door and well ventilated it would be safe?

Wanted to double check.

How close is your bathroom to where your bird's cage is? That will be the big difference between if it's worth the risk or not.

I don't have an Eclectus yet :) Still saving and waiting to move out (job searching has been taking awhile).

I wouldn't be getting one until I move out, and it would be in a 1 bedroom apartment. So I'm not sure about the layout...

Spray tanning is fine as long as it's away from the bird and in a well ventilated area. They also sell the tanning wipes which is a more environmentally friendly way to go for both the environment and your pets.
