Question about weight / age

Hello everyone our new child Keeley is weighing in at 360g at 12 weeks old is his weight on target for his age he is a Vos. he eats like a pig and after finding out he likes his chopped fruits & veggies on the large size he has been eating them very well as well as his Harrison's HP and his bean mix as well thanks in advance

That is amazing for that age what I have found is Vos are between 430-540 adult weight but at 12 weeks he will be a little chunky monkey until he starts dropping weight to fly. Then he will gain again to reach adult weight which is some where around 2 yrs for the larger Vos. I don't know if you plan on clipping, totally your decision but please allow him to learn to really fly and land well. Even where he is flying to you on command before clipping if you are going to, it is so much better for them to get confident in flying it effects their personality for the rest of their lives. I have seen this first hand with ekkies and believe it 100%

Thanks for the info he is learning to fly as we speak I am not sure about leaving him fully flighted for life or not (have not decided) by the way how long before he is done fledging do you think he is overweight he is a big boy he is a lot larger than si's his same age thanks again

He is large for even a Vos at that age but I would not be worried about that just yet, as I said he will go through weight changes as he learns to fly with confidence.

The Vos are the largest of the species available in the US and they do take longer to wean than some of the smaller sub-species. That said I never say an exact age, each baby is different and should wean and fully fledge at their own pace. Rushing the process does not help the bird and can hurt them. They are only babies once, I think it is important to let them be babies as long as they need to.

Thanks I agree We are fully enjoying him and his baby ways I was just wondering what is an average time frame that I should expect

Hard to say. Ekkies do like to take their time weaning. I've seen it happen in as little as 3 months (with Bixby's pretty boy brother), 4 months with Bixby himself, and I've heard of the process even taking as long as 7 months. It's really up to the individual ekkie.
