Decided to try a new food.. tell me what you think

So I decided to incorporate this raw diet that I found for Junior, and I have to say that I like that it includes foods that I normally cannot get him to eat (sprouts, especially!) and it is easy to feed mixed with fresh carrots, peas, etc.. So far, he seems to be doing well (no toe tapping, wing flapping) and I like that my purchase goes to support their rescue sanctuary. Granted, it is pricey food, but what do you all think? Iíve included some pics of the ingredients.

Sorry for the delayed response! Not bad but not the best. It relies on dehydrated fruits, which pretty much any parrot food with dehydrated vfruits is labeled as a treat and not meant as dietary base.

I’m also concerned about the significant use of powders in this. Don’t know if it’s bad or not, but i get “spirulina” ringing in my head, so I’m hesitant.

And it’s not raw, to be clear.

All that said, I am intrigued by the shear variety here, and even I’m considering looking into it.

So there you go. Made a big hypocrite out of myself.

Ah yes, just saw this: it has a calcium supplementation (algae calcium). Given the theory that some toe tapping may be calcium deficiency it’s may not be a bad thing. But with ekkies ANY supplementation could be problematic. They also seem to have a few oil types. Given the Ekkie need for low fat diet, I’m a tad concerned about that.

Like chris-md, sorry for the delay in response. For me, primary concern is that fruit is at the top of the list. When reading ingredients on labels it usually reads greatest amounts to least. My Ekkies don't get fruit as their primary source of nutrition. Sugar content too high especially in dehydrated form.

Secondary concern is that flax seed comes up next. Research flax seed and potential problems in birds and humans for cardiovascular concerns. For me this is too much flax. We use this as a minimal food source in bird bread on rare occasion.

In truth, after reading these couple of primary ingredients it was a no go for me. I am not a CAV. This is MHO only. Each Eclectus has specific needs based on likes/dislikes/general health/molting cycles/weight maintenance/hormones etc...it is best for you and your CAV to choose based on 'health needs' rather than MHO.

Thanks for the input!! Definitely some things to consider I will probably just use this in small amounts then along with his regular chop.
