Looking for ideas for Chopmix (to retain freshness)

What kinds of things should I consider adding to chopmix when I mix and freeze it to ensure it stays freshest when served?

For example, on my last batch I added some lemon juice, but I'm thinking there is probably some other things I can add for this purpose.

I work all day and he doesn't eat it all at once so he'll eat from the bowl again before I get home, so I want to make sure to keep as much bacteria away from the food.

Thanks

I don't add anything to retain freshness, what works fantastic for me is making sure there is no air present in the chop before it goes in the freezer :D When I take out a bag to be defrosted it smells great and has no discoloration or issues with freshness other than the damage that freezing inflicts upon some of the nutrients.

Orange also contains citric acid which will retard mold for a bit longer

I use a Foodsaver to pack weekly portions and freeze them. I'm mainly trying to find some natural preservatives so when it's in his bowl all day until I get home it stays as fresh as possible.

I pack mine in baggies that will last for 3-4 days at a time and freeze the rest. I've never had issues with it going bad!

Mine doesn't go bad in the fridge or freezer either. i just want to know of there is anything I should. (maybe more lemon or apple cider vinegar) to ensure bacteria wont grow on it when it's in his bowl all day. I leave for work early in the morning and I know he doesn't eat all his food at once, he'll go back hours later and eat more.
