NEED ADVICE NOW - Not Again...

It happened again . Gizmo either over preened her hit his tail on something. Either way there was blood again tonight. Not a lot, but small droplets. The worst part was that the feather was barely noticeable and all you could see was a tiny drop of blood. I cleaned up his butt as best as I could to find the source and there was a feather stuck together in blood. I then applied cornstarch to his entire rear with 3 layers.
(Filling in: He has no tail, he was found without ANY feathers attached to his butt area and was told it would take a month or two before it grows back).
I've also noticed what I believe to be, dried blood drops at the ends of his new feathers.

I'm scheduling a vet checkup ASAP, I want to ask about a collar or ointment treatment, even possibly medicine to help the irritation.
I'm extremely scared, theres a lot of new feathers coming in which means more picking. I accidentally lashed out in frustration trying to get him to stay on his back in my palm or he would climb to my shoulder and latch on there not letting go. There's also a "crater" or concave part of skin which I think is a scab. If I could, I would stay home and watch him but other than that, I have to hope for the best.

Update..he's been picking at the larger scab. I need to take him to the vet, I'm not sure what else to do. I'll be having him outside all day tomorrow to try make sure he doesn't preen there if I can't get an appointment-hopefully I can.
I'm beyond scared I want to cry, I think I messed up putting cornstarch because I think that's whats making him pick at his feathers.

Any advice is really welcomed I'm not sure what else to do. It's close to 1 am and no one except my brother is awake.

I agree, it's time for a thorough exam by an Avian Vet. I'd keep him clean and warm until his appointment. Hopefully, he's just picked at the new feathers coming in, but better to be sure. Good luck and please let us know how it turns out.

Make sure he has plenty of access to high calorie food and water in the mean time. You are right he needs to see a vet! Feather and Fur in Kailua is the best known and trusted avian vet office on the island that I have heard of, and they have several avian vets on staff and are open late at night. I believe they don't start charging emergency fees until midnight, which is a big plus. I don't know how far away from them you are. Best of luck, get him in quick, and keep us updated!

Bump

Anyone have any advice to help? (I don't have any experience with this, sorry).
Thank you :)

The house get's pretty warm during the day time, so I'm hoping that's okay. I never saw the responses until now (930 am) and he's being left uncovered. I'm hoping it's okay for a few hours.
I have to go to the doctors today so I asked my mom to plan an appointment right after, in the meantime I'm dreading leaving him alone (I'm in school atm..).

I'm having my brother stop off at the house because of his college schedule let's him out way earlier than me to put down some honey treats--which I think are high calories. I had placed millet in, mostly because I felt bad having to "manhandle" him.
I'm living around Aina Haina, but I'd have to keep Feather and Fur in mind.

I am still pretty new to the island, so I have to admit not knowing where that is. You know me, I am usually not one to suggest dry millet for birds, but in a case like this his body is under stress, and especially if he is losing blood he needs calories and lots of water. The other thing is it may just keep his mind off his butt for a while as he eats. Do you have another avian vet nearby?

It's between Kahala Mall and Hawaii Kai, so more towards the other side of the island. I take my birds to the Pet Doctor because it is really convenient. It's about a 5 minute drive. But I like my vet, he seems intimidating but he's never afraid to tell it like it is-which I like, because I don't want it sugarcoated.
The only avian vets I can think of is Feather and Fur and the Pet Doctor. I heard about the one (I think) inside the mall but I'm not entirely sure they are avian.

Since he hates all toys if they don't have bells I strung up A LOT of bell toys in his favorite spot to try help keep him distracted. He usually likes to just sit and watch, which worries me because it gives him time to go back to his butt. It was a long shot, but I placed a few shredding toys that I hope will get him interested. There shouldn't be a food shortage, I only have around an ounce in his bowls but there are two.
I'm hoping he'll be taking a bath to wash off his wound (when I get home of course) or I'll try giving him a bath when I get home. Last night was more of a cleaning.

The vet I was planning to go to was closed, and I'll try going to Feather and Fur but the traffic getting there is horrible.

Fortunately feather and fur is open all night, so you could wait out the bad Traffic and get an appointment at 8pm or later :)

I'm trying to contact some other vets one of the Parrot Association has listed on their website, but if anything, I'll be going in later tonight.
I just really want him to get checked out, I'm thinking of finding a collar in the meantime. The only one I can find is the E-collar.

Is there any recommended collars for small birds?
