So ever since Maverick arrived, he's been quite a sneezer. They were always dry sneezes, and the vet couldn't find anything "off" during his checkup. So she told me it could just be an allergy to something, or even behavioral.

Well today I noticed he had a few wet sneezes. The liquid was clear, and his nose looks dry now. But that did concern me, so we have a vet appointment wednesday.

Anyone else here have a bird that just seems to sneeze quite often?

Raven does, but it's because he has a damaged nare/sinus area from an old injury. He's always shaking and scratching at it and has been to 3 avian vets. On occasion his sinus doesn't drain properly because of the messed up shape, and has had an isolated wet sneeze from it. You might want to see if nothing is misshaped in the sinus area that might be causing it? I know that would be rare, but because of Raven I thought I'd mention it. I hope it's nothing big MaryBeth, at least you're taking him in. Hopefully you'll get a good answer! Keep us posted.

Thank you for that! Would never have thought to look for something like that.

I may be completely over reacting; but you just never know. So what's a few extra bucks to check?

And thank you! I will. He's definitely not slowing down at all. So that is a plus. Right now he is attacking this powerade bottle. :)

Kiwi seems to suffer seasonal allergies and sneezes more than normal lot during the times of year we are suffering too. I've never taken him to a vet over it because (for him at least) it's pretty clear it's just minor allergies from pollen or dust.

Hope Maverick is ok and it's just some allergies too:)

I think I've heard that low humidity can cause sneezing as well. Just a thought, being winter and all.

I just adopted a new budgie 12 days ago, and he started having some wet sneezes, no wet cere or anything. I assume he caught some cold. I scheduled a vet appt, and put a few drops of apple cider vinegar in his water bowl. He stopped sneezing the next day, and didn't sneeze for two more days. I postponed the appt because I really hated to get him out in this cold. Today he sneezed once or twice again, so I talked to the vet and told her we'll come on a warmer day (in our clinic you can come the same day). As for budgies the sneezes are totally normal, but if they are frequent and wet it's not good.
