Hi Everyone,

Lately I've noticed that Baxter is pulling out little tufts of fluffy down when he is preening. I also see them floating around the house here and there.

Is this normal or something I should keep an eye on?

Down feather. Short of bald sports or irritated skin, I'd assume it's normal preening/molting.

I'm guessing he's not pulling them out, but they're just falling out. It's normal for birds to lose the down feathers here and there year round, although it's much more profuse during molting.
