Question about my birds droppings

Hi,

I would just like to inquire about my birds poop because i am not very educated on exactly what to look for in my birds droppings to identify a problem. However, i read up that the stringy white part in his poo could indicate a bacterial infection ? Her poo isnt always like this, and is usually more watery after some fruits, but what do you guys think ?

That's a bit abnormal to me, there seems to be a lot of water in there.
Here are the elements that make a bird poop-
Their urates are of white color, it should be a liquid, but not exactly as thin as water.
Then comes the feces, they generally should be brown... sometime green too (brown happens when you give them pellets, green when you give them seeds).
Lastly... their urine should be a clear liquid, sometime partially yellow.
Your bird's poop has too much of the urine part... the clear liquid.
Will research more about this. I would try to post a picture of my bird's normal poop soon.
Since fruits contain soo much water, their poops can be watery. Remember... fruits are treat!

It also sort of depends on what is normal for your bird. Each bird has its own range of "normal" to some extent. A single cloudy or off-dropping isn't usually a big deal, but if you have had your bird long enough to know what is typical, any repeat deviations from that should definitely be investigated.



There should be white in poop- those are the urates. In a typical dropping, you should have urine (the liquid), urates (the white stringy parts) and feces (the poop). You are right to watch poop closely, as it is often the first indicator when a bird is sick.


There are some sites that show pictures of poop that could be associated with certain medical problems, but sometimes I have been wrong when I thought something was wrong with mine because of pictures online.

Food can impact color, as stated above.


Generally, urine should be clearish, but it can mix some with the feces and produce slightly varied results when that happens.

So here's my bird's normal poop-
I'd just like to point out that sometimes it has a little more water and sometimes it's less. This is a lovebird's poop.

The cloudiness of first makes me 4hink has bacterial infection. Your " normal " one should have more urates

What other symptoms is your bird having?

If this continues then certainly make a AV appointment and take a fresh sample with you for analysis. Change the diet around if possible and see what that does hun.
