Well I have been noticing that Lucy has a strange way of sleeping.. She has a rope perch that's folded like a U from the top of the cage.. She likes to sleep there.. What has me a little concerned is that she purposely positions herself so one side of the rope passes under her left wing.. (So the rope is between her body and her wing)... Not sure why she does this.. But wondering if I should remove the rope and replace it with a regular perch... I cleaned everything and placed it back the way it was in order to make her feel more at home..anyone seen this before??

She is a plucker and hasn't plucked for the week i have had her.. So not sure if i should remove the rope perch and risk stressing her out...

Thoughts opinions on Whether I should remove the rope perch..and risk stressing her out??

Thanks in advance

I've never seen that before but if that's how she's comfy I wouldn't suggest removing it, like you said it may stress her out. It doesn't seem dangerous, just a bit odd

Maybe she's doing it to help balance herself on the rope, as if she was holding on. Since rope perches are soft, she may feel a bit unsteady & insecure. I'd leave it unless you see some reason not to.

It's a rope perch with some type of flexible wire in it.. So it's pretty firm once you shape it it keeps it stays...

Only concern I have is her feathers are being bent.. Which isn't an issue now since most of his feathers are either mutilated or plucked..

It may be that she likes the feel of that rope on her feet & uses the rope under the wing as security for her sleeping position.....or.....it is a comfort factor...

I know of a grey that was re-homed from a not so nice home & picked up a kitchen mit in his new home & would drag it around with him as a security blanket & when he was offered a new on to replace the one that had gotten worn, he drug the new one to the garbage, climbed up and dropped it in the trash.....

I guess I'll leave it as is for a while...But she has quite a few blood feathers coming in so I will have to change the perch eventually... Don't want to risk her damaging a blood feather..
