What sort of bird could happily live in this cage?

Inspired by Gizmomania's post, I have a similar question, I'm also getting a new cage for my conures(See my thread in 'conures' for details if you like.) and thus will leave an empty cage. It is 25"W X 13"L X 22"T. I'm not in the market for another bird right now as I recently brought home Yoshi the Eclectus parrot, however should I come across something I either just can't refuse (or if someone tries to give me a bird) What kind of species would be able to be in that cage? I'm not really interested in getting another conure since I've had my fair share of GCCs, Jendays, Suns, and my White Eared, but maybe something smaller like an IRN or even a Lory?
Thanks in advance. I repeat: I'm definitely not looking for a bird right now haha. This is just for my own curiosity

13" in any direction is really very small...I would say that cage might be okay for a budgie, lovebird or parrotlet, but they are very active species so I'm not sure. Do you have a picture of the cage?

Ah I thought so. I've had this cage since long before I really read into cage requirements for birds, and the other day whenever I really looked at it I realized how small it actually is. I guess I just have really tolerant conures, they prefer to climb around and wrestle and never really seemed displeased at their cage. (Then again they're really only in it with the door shut while they're sleeping.. hah.) Guess it's time to retire this one. But I'll definitely keep it like you said for sleep/travel if I need it.

Having a spare cage always comes in handy! I'd keep it around.

Yes, a spare cage can be used for vet trips, or while cleaning another cage, or for emergency housing of a small critter.

i'd keep it for a hospital cage or travel cage. i wouldnt feel comfortable putting many birds in a cage only 13" deep long term. even budgies and lovebirds need bigger because of their activity level, they thrive better in larger cages. 18" is the minimum for these species.

Ahem. It's a great size for a small colony of mice. Just sayin'. Mice make great pets!

Hehe.. the only time I kept mice in the past was for babies, since I've always had snakes and my adult bearded dragon ate pinky mice on a somewhat regular basis. Maybe I can convince the boyfriend that his snake needs to stop eating those lame frozen ones

I mean she IS getting bigger..

I tend to have a smaller cage in hand for when I need to clean out the 'main' cage, but don't want my birds getting too playful with the cleaning supplies

It would make a decent travel cage... if you take long weekends to family or such, great way to take the fid along! Or even if you do a driving vacation, lots of animal friendly hotels so you don't have to find a bird sitter.
