I forgot to add a rather large beet I bought special into Kiwi's newest batch of chop. I don't want to run the dehydrator again for one beet! We don't eat beets and I don't think Kiwi would be all that interested if I stuck chunks of beet in his dish either (when it's in his chop, he just eats it because he can't separate stuff out).

Thinking perhaps I could juice the beet and add a teaspoon a day into his evening meal until the juice runs out? Would that be too concentrated for a parrot? Any other ideas of what I can do with this beet for him? I hate to waste food...

My guys aren't really fans either...I have diced it into very fine pieces and mixed with chop, and they end up eating some as it sticks to the bigger pieces. It would probably be a nice addition to birdie bread, too.

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
You could cook, finely chop or grate and freeze in very small pots and then add into the chop at the time. I do this with sweet potato, broccoli, cauli just to try and vary the chop a little bit. You could juice and freeze and then defrost and mix into the chop at the time. Doesn't need to be every day this way.

I think the juicing is a great idea. You could also try cutting it 50/50 with another juice that's more palatable. My conure really loves beet juice mixed with carrot juice or apple juice.
