hello all!!
firstly I wanted to share this super cute photo of Pico in his new harness! (attached)
but unfortunately he hates it. haha. he can't even enjoy being with me and out of the house because he spends his entire time obsessing over how to get it off of himself.
additionally he hates the concept of the "over the head" design to get the harness on. it scares him to death and I just don't think I'm ever going to use it again :/
are there any other alternatives that you would recommend? I really want to be able to take him out with me for walks and stuff.

Wearing a harness is a trained behavior. You need to take the time to train him to accept each step of the process in order for the Harness to work.

The Harness pictured is an aviator harness. Follow the steps on the DVD that came with it. Follow them exactly and never move to the next step until your bird is 100% comfortable with the current step. Because you have already forced it on him you will need to have even more patience than if you had taken adequate time to start with. You might consider starting over with a different color to break the association.

In the mean time to answer your original question, there are basically only two safe options for being outside; a harness or a carrier.

thank you but I bought it secondhand, maybe that was a mistake judging by what you were saying. I don't have a DVD so i'm not aware of what you're talking about.
that's why I asked for advice. no need to be condescending.
