Hi so I recently got a Quaker parrot. The man at the store said that I shouldn't put any toys in his cage for a couple of weeks until he gets used to the cage. Should I be listening to this or just buying him toys anyway?

I will defer to someone with more expertise about toys (although my gut says get toys in his cage ASAP) but your little guy sure is cute! Welcome to both of you!

There's no reason not to put a few toys in the cage now (just don't overload it with toys-- it can be easy to be overly enthusiastic about that :D). Before you put them in, show them to your QP and demonstrate how to play with them, and show your parrot how much fun they are. If your QP seems afraid of any of the toys, leave them out of the cage, but within sight of it. After a while, you can add more toys or change them out so your QP won't get bored with the same old toys.
