Hole In Parrots Beak, please help!

Hello, I have a 1.5 year old Jardine named Akie. He has always been healthy and happy, but recently his beak got too long. A while back he spooned out the bottom of his beak on a beak conditioning perch I put in his cage. It grew back luckily, but his beak got too long again. I placed a cuttle bone in his cage and now he has a circular hole in the middle of the bottom of his beak. I took the cuttle bone out but one side of his lower beak is too long, should I place it back in the cage so he can fix his beak? I'm worried he will make the hole bigger he is acting normal and eating normally. Please advise? I don't think a vet will be able to do much for him. Attatched are some pictures of him, I couldn't get one of the hole because he is a very active little boy. The hole is about the size of a shoe lace tip. The other side of his beak looks completely normal.

take him to a Certified Avian Vet to get a beak trim and to check over. Damaging his beak like that is really bad and worrying. If he damages his beak beyond repair he is going to struggle to eat

I agree with LordTriggs. You should definitely get Akie in to a certified avian vet with all haste. I'm assuming the hole you spoke of in the lower beak is not the naturally occurring gap between the lower beak and the throat region? (I ask because years ago, I first noticed that same gap on my cockatiel after he'd crashed into a wall and I'd thought he smashed off a chunk of his beak. I was freaked out until I did some research.)

But regardless of whether or not the hole in question is the naturally occurring gap, he still needs to be seen by a CAV. Abnormal beak growth can be genetic, but more often than not it is a sign of a dietary imbalance. If this is the case, you want to address it before things get worse and he develops issues with his liver or anything else. Please take him in ASAP.

I took Akie to the vet today, they reshaped his beak. They aren't sure if the hole will grow out but the cause of it is him damaging his beak on cuttle bones. He looks a lot better and seems happier luckily. It will take a few more trimmings to get his lower beak back to normal but luckily he will be fine, thank you for the advice.

Thank you for following up! Knowing your bird has a good outcome makes me happy. I did not know cuttlebone could be so damaging? Is it because Akie has a genetic predilection for excessive growth/structural weakness to his beak?
