Hi guys. Rather than clutter up the forums I thought id make one thread for all my questions and to share the progress and stories of my little green avian nemesis (I mean friend) Xander. Maybe my triumphs and struggles can be of help to other newbie Parrot owners or even other Quaker Parrot owners being toyed with on a daily basis by these beautiful, funny, playful and strong willed little urchins and also I like talking about him. He is a pretty cool dude
I love this video of him. The first day he came home. I left his cage open from the get go and he was exploring straight away and found somewhere cosy to have nap time.

From there it has been constant suffering for me
I joke, it has been a joy even with all the inexperience I had at first and many worries and questions but you guys have always answered them for which I am always very grateful. We have overcome a lot. His massive fear of hands and screaming problems and converting him to a healthy diet all of which are no more. If there is a cure to turn me back into Male around him id appreciate that All in all I cant complain. We have no real issues and he is a lovely nice natured little fellow except in spring time lol. Wow spring time, doesn't it suck He has nearly made it to 1 years old now and even more amazing, I made it lol so I think we are doing alright.
I treat him to a new cage a few days ago. He helped design the interior as usual. After many months of studying trajectories and my OCD issues we have a full but spacious cage we can both live with. He was inside for 20 minutes inspecting everything and gave me the nod Everything has to go through him of course. I am replacing the sleeping hut with a jolly ball soon so don't worry
He has shed 2 tail feathers in symmetry this week so I think the big malt is finally happening. I'm excited because all his damaged feathers he came with will be gone and I don't have to be reminded every day that he went through something bad. We have the spin down perfectly now also. I only need to say the word. It was the hardest part of the trick in honesty but not so hard all in all. We are working on recall every day and that is going ok and I'm getting him used to being on his back in my hand and opening his wings. We started learning the big eagle trick yesterday so I'm hoping we will have that down in a week to just the word command. I have his hoops also but I know he will master that in no time. He is pretty smart to be honest. I think he just acts the idiot and pulls the wool over my eyes haha like he always has but that's Quakers for you. I got to spend all day with him today so he has loved it and me. He has started stringing sentences together also. There are real words in them but also lots of his words he makes up. He always makes me laugh when he is practising talking and up to his usual shenanigans. You don't have a bad day for long when you have a Quaker at home. He is the best.
