So a friend of mine caught wind of my recent senegal rescue. She has loads of bird knowledge and a breeding pair of IRN's. She called and asked if I would trade her. Seeing as I've only had her 2 weeks, I accepted. She is a very sweet sennie. But I rescued her from a bad living condition and I know she is in the BEST of hands. I'm excited for both of them! Like a match made in heaven.

So, we got a baby she hasn't found a home for yet. He is 14 weeks old. And the cutest lil boy! (not even sure if he really is a boy) my husband named him and is the most excited. We both were very happy with the swap. It was better for the entire participating parties. Birdies included!!

Buster turquoisegrey IRN male, Piper buttercup IRN female. 2 Budgies who will soon be relocating to my brothers home.
Oh what a gorgeous baby! You will find IRN are very intelligent, in addition to being nosey! They are also so keen on trying new things. With some training they can even learn to shape sort and thread beads! If you really wanna know if its male or female you could have it dna sexed, but I want to tell you that if you put a male IRN in front of a mirror, he usually drops his head and open his wings to display their width( trying to intimidate the bloke in the mirror) lol. Congrats he/she is gorgeous! I'm so in love with IRN

My 5 month old IRN also grey, does that, and tries to intimidate my husband too lol! He has been sexed by the vet but aparently all males do the mirror display. Yes the ring appears from about 18 months to 3 years of age. Just give him attention and handling every day, he may also go through a teenage nipping stage where he will test the limits of his beak and your patience! Positive reinforcement will do the trick. IRN needs constant obedience training throughout their lives and are very independent birds, so a lot of attention is essential as they are very happy on their own, so they won't always in teract unless you do so first
