Is it only the hens that put nest material in their feathers?

Hi, I read an article about lovebirds that say the hens carry nest material tucked into their feathers. Is this correct? My temporary rescue lovebird tears strips of paper etc and places them in the tail feathers, I'd assumed it was a **** feather adornment behaviour. Fascinating to watch.
Thanks

It is true! And they will go after whatever you have around your house that they deem fit to shred... trust me, watch out for your kitchen cupboards. My little lutino hen teamed up with my boy and figured out how to open the cupboards and went after all of the boxes and tore them up. Naughty birds ;)

Thank you. And we thought she was a male, funny that my description of a male bird was censored : )
Time for a name change I think from Stanley to Bramley. Her partner is a little Fisher called Alice. I"ll change his/her name to Apple.
Many thanks
