Wild lovebird?

hello, I have a Fischer lovebird that flew into our kitchen looking for food. lovebirds, in general, are not native to my country and I figured that he must have either escaped from a home or a store. when we gave him food it was obvious that he was terrified of humans but still ate like he was starving. I felt bad for him and decided to take care of him but I would feel worse if I am actually capturing a free bird (even though it is not a native one) so I was wondering, should I attempt to tame him(if that was even possible) or should I set him free? also, he doesn't bite he is simply terrified.

after two weeks he is now casually hanging out on top of his cage, he flies to sit on top of my closet sometimes but I do not have the heart to trim his wings. I named him Suki and so far I got him to eat some vegetables along with seeds (still working on getting him used to the pellets)

he is also fine with me reaching in to change his water and food but will freak out if I linger. I was just wondering if it is still possible​ to fully tame him?

If he isn’t native to your country then it might be an escaped or abondoned bird, especially if his terrified of humans. Look around for lost posters or something, but don’t put up found posters until you find the lost poster because anyone can claim him.

or if you were to put up a found poster keep things vague. I would be inclined to ask at any local vets or pet stores to ask if anyone has come by recently asking about a lost bird.

Anyone who were to claim the bird as there's I would make prove they're the owner, existing pictures on their phone of the bird in their house, or the far more slid way of telling you, knowing the ring number

it's difficult to explain, but people around here won't care about lost birds enough to put up posters for them, they only care about their dogs or cats. it's really sad. However, I will try to ask around just in case and update the thread. I'm getting my own hand raised bird in a week or so. (been planning for it for a while)

I'm really glad you found the little lovie, and that he now has a wonderful new home if no owner can be located. With time and patience, he can still be tamed.

I was surprised yesterday when I found out that he belonged to one of our neighbors who were trying to set him free by force(he didnt want to leave the tiny cage) and that he used to be surrounded by children who often hit his cage to scare him (poor baby ) I'm glad I found him and he's getting used to me fairly quickly. my only problem is that he isnt active, he does fly around my room for a bit but he ignores the toys in his cage and would just prefer to sit around and watch. I am afraid that he might be depressed.

He is still adjusting to life in a new, good but very different environment. He still may be expecting children to barge in and torture him any moment, poor bird. In time, he may open up, and remember how to play, but as long as you are interacting with him kindly, I am sure he will come around in time.
