Reputable Breeders in OR and SoCal?

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Here's my deal. I've never owned a parrot, but I've dreamed about it for years. My wife and I plan on it as soon as we are in a place where we can take care of one and give it the attention it deserves. We want a baby female blue and gold, and we've already picked out the name Myrtle. In the mean time, I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to reputable breeders in either the San Diego or Portland, OR area. I'm from portland, but I'm in the military and stationed near san diego, so depending on whether we get our bird before or after I get out, that will decide where I buy.

I don't know any breeders out there. But I am curious - is your wife experienced with parrots?

If not I'd encourage you to consider other species as macaws are not good for inexperienced owners.

Not sure either, but I agree about Macaws.

My friend just got one - never owned a parrot, I'll see how it goes.

My cousin has one as well - he's experienced and has had it since he got out of college.

My point is, experience is helpful.
Macaws are HUGE commitments and may outlast you. You need the time and patience.
They needs a LOT of things and ways to stimulate themselves, especially interaction.
It's a big investment, make sure you know what you're doing first.

Some Conures have colors just as beautiful as Macaws, but are easier to take care of - along with many other parrots.
