Proof macs really do sense your emotions

Today I got home from work and I was really upset and by upset I mean furious (I won't bore you with the details) and all I wanted to do was snuggle my mush mac. Zoe on the other hand only wanted to lunge and was feeling her oats. This is unusual. Generally when I get home and let her out she's really super snuggly.

Karen comes home and this is what she gets.

I really think she knew I was angry and wired and she acted accordingly. Karen comes home all mellow and you see the results.

Oh they definitely sense our emotions. My hubby and I don't argue a lot, but when we occasionally disagree, we have a feathered "tone it down" meter to keep things civil

Kiwi is typically a very very quiet bird, but if we start arguing he starts up with the type of squawks you can hear down the block:52:

I hope Zoe forgives you later and allows you to get some snuggles too.

I can see where they can tell if I'm tense, but it happens so much lately that they're kind of used to it now, and they ignore it!

Sally used to go "Big Bird" on my ex-wife when she was angry. The exact second she raised her voice to me, it was the full on wings out, eyes pinning, crazed amazon pacing back and forth at her... poised to attack! Until she (my ex) backed off and quieted down.

My ex-wife was terrified of that bird! And Sally has always been super protective of me...

So, it's not just macs...

Yes it did.

Guess which bird went with me to pick up my daughter back when we shared custody... ?! Kept the drama to a minimum.

I am a "drama avoidance" kind of person.

My ex has never actually met Maggie... you can just imagine if she was terrified of Sally, my little red lored amazon, what the sight of a bolivian greenwing with a head like a rottweiller would do... (not that she's anything less than a giant feathered mushball. But there's that, OH MY GOD THAT BIRD'S GONNA BITE ME! thing again...

IF YOU RUN AROUND THE ROOM SCREAMING, THEY WILL CHASE YOU! It's kind of a given...

Maybe it has to do with them being prey animals. If I am stressed from something I back away from Captain Jack because me being upset/stress seems to scare him alittle. When I get relaxed everything in his mind is back to normal. My dog on the other hand reads me even better. He will comfort me when he knows I am sad. I remember when I fracture my shoulder and my mom had to help me for a little while (I stayed with her for four to five days). One of her little dogs would sit on my lap while I was asleep (and looking out for me) when my mom was out of the house.
