my rescued macaw

This is kenway. He is 3 1/2 yrs old. Was a cage bound macaw that loved to bite . He now is learning not to bite and loves being out of his cage. He does clip certain wing feathers ..not a plucker or stressed. Never seen a bird that doesnt like certain feathers and does it evenly on both sides

He's a beautiful macaw! What kind is he, do you know? So happy that you rescued him and that he will no longer be cage bound.

Thank u! I got him off craigslist and been told he is a hybrid a miligold macaw (military x blue and gold). They were rehoming him due to he favored the husband and wanted nothing to with his primary caregiver a woman. They had him in such a large cage I never saw it but supposedly ...like one for breeding macaws that he loved being inside more than out and was told he needed alot of work. A project to take on. When I went to pick him up he was biting the woman every chance he got never drew blood but u could see the marks. We do have him in a smaller cage and he seems to love it.. he is out 24/7 during the day and is only in it to sleep. I make him birdie bread and give him extra treats through out the day along with his pellets. He doesn't eat alot in one day.. it takes him two maybe three days to eat all his food In his dish. Normal? And he now wants to regerate his food with me by putting my finger in his mouth.he loves me we can touch him all over without biting. But I dont want to have him think im his mate? Lol

Sorry, Too late. He loves you and you are his mate. Now get a flight harness and get him out and about to meet other people and see new things!!!
