This past Sunday, our cats alerted us to a Quaker Parrot in our rose bush. After rescuing it, bringing it inside and preparing a make-shift enclosure out of a tall cardboard box and my wire cake pan cooling racks, we set off to Pet Smart to get a proper parrot cage, food and toys.
I reported the found bird to our local Animal Control, but have heard nothing back. I also took "Carson" (I love Downton Abbey on PBS) to the avian vet where the bird was examined and was given an antibiotic and steroid shot to heal two puncture wounds (most likely compliments of our cats!).
We have been reading up on parrots, but we are interested to know what temperature they like best. Do we need to keep the temperature in the house at a certain level? And at what temperature range is it ok for a Quaker to be outside in their cage?
We need lots of advice!!
