New Bird Mom!!

Hey everyone!!! I am starting the process of getting my baby amazon!! So excited!!! I will get her/him hopefully in the spring....I am doing as much research as I can now to learn as much as I possibly can.....!! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Can't wait to meet yall and hear about your sweet bird!

Welcome. Amazons are great birds! I'm glad to hear you're doing your research first, it will make it *so* much easier when your new baby finally comes home. What kind of amazon are you looking at getting? Are you looking to get a baby or adopt one from a rescue/shelter?

Thanks! I am getting a Double Yellow-Head Amazon. I will be getting a baby

So excited....I am hoping she gets one in the fall....but since spring is when they have the babies I will probably have to wait till then

Congratulations!!!! I did not choose to get an amazon, I ended up adopting an amazon from a deceased family member and it was the greatest adoption ever. The circumstances were sad but I'm glad Buddy is with me and I could give him a good home. I knew nothing about amazons when I got him, he's 25 years old now and he was so starved for love. Please note he had a great home but his owner was bedridden after having a stroke and couldn't give him the attention he needed or the attention he was use to. I joined this forum, got direction and he and I bonded quickly.

Amazons are amazing characters, Buddy always talks back to me, he's nonstop noise, he loves me to bits, I love him to bits, I don't know what I'd do without him. Even Husband loves him and they both have a hate/hate relationship. I don't think you will regret your decision.
