Hi my name is Scott I live in New Castle Pa. myself and my fiance started our rescue well actually she started a few years before me but who's counting.
I am disabled and a veteran that loves his besties (animals). I have been a rescuer for going on 7 years now and like i said my fiance has been doing it for a few years longer than me. As of right now we have an 18 yo male cockatiel, 2 african greys 1male and 1 female, we have 2 alexandrine parrakeets 1 male and 1 female, and 2 umbrella cockatoos cant figure out there sex yet. We just rehomed an umbrella that is disabled he is blind in one eye and has a broken un reparable wing and had his rear talons ripped out he is now with my handicapped brother living in florida. we also rehomed a citron cockatoo her name fit her well she was named angel she went to live with my sister and her family also in florida. thegood part is we frequently visit florida so they will still get to see us and in about a year or so we will be moving to florida also and plan on opening a large rescue center. we also rescue dogs and believe it or not ive rescued fish we also adopted to oscars just to make reconsidering renaming myself noah i have just about 2 of everything

Re: scott and tammy the rescuers

Welcome to the forums, Scott, thank you for your service to our nation and to the forgotten innocent animals.

You've already had great success and I highly respect your ambitious plans once in Florida.

A somewhat accurate way to determine cockatoo sex is eye color. Males usually have dark black eyes while females are a lighter brown color. No guarantee, though unless you see one lay an egg or have them surgically sexed.
