Hey all! I have been browsing this site now for a couple of months while researching a new baby. Well,i am THRILLED to announce that Charlie is the newest member of our family. He is an 18 mnth old Umbrella Too, and I am already smitten! The advice and conversations in the members forum really helped me with my decision and has helped me prepare my home and family for the new addition. At the moment I am visiting him every day to build a relationship, and i think he will be coming home on the 3rd January. I cant wait!!!
Any more advice to make his transition to my home easier? He is a re-home case, his owners could not keep him anymore and for five months he has been at a pet store with very loving staff who have so******ed him well. He already looks forward to my daily visits. I was wondering if I should take him on a tour of my house before he actually moves in? Or will this be confusing for him?

I think a "tour" right away may scare him. I'd let him get used to his cage, you, and his immediate surroundings before you move him around too much. Fred has been here six months, and is only now wanting to explore the rest of the house...

I agree with Sharon. It's more important that he's comfortable with you, so your visits are very important. When he comes home, let him explore at his own pace.

And remember, quarantine for at least 30 days!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Too....

I agree with everyone above... let Charlie get acclimated to his cage and immediate surroundings. I have had Abby since 5 months also and I have taken her into the bedroom for a while for one on one time and I have just got a stand so I can take her into the kitchen..

I know you are so thrilled... these next few weeks will go by fast.

Thank you everyone!
Thankfully Charlie will bring his cage, perch, toys
and playstand along with him.But I so appreciate
all the advice and will take it!Mostly I will leave
it to him I think, as soon as he is ready he will let
me know.
Have already made arrangements for the birds to be
Quarantined for the 30 days.
Ooooh I am sooo excited for him to come home! ;-)
