A Greenwing, a Sun Conure, and a Hahn's Macaw
I'm glad to have found this forum.

I bought a baby Greenwing from a local breeder six weeks ago and named him Mardy. I spend a couple of hours with Mardy each weekend. Since I don't see Mardy the other 166 hours of the week I don't really expect to have achieved any real bonding, but I do learn a lot from the breeder and I like to think the breeder will take better care of Mardy because they know I'm going to be there the following weekend.

I have only two months worth of experience with my daughter's Sun Conure (named Nigel). I'm trying to come up to speed quickly since Mardy will come home in three months. I've purchased two training courses from Chet Womach, I've subscribed to Barbara Heidenreich's "Good Bird Inc" ezine and have read all the back issues posted on her site, I've read a number of articles by Steve Martin, Chet Womach, Jessica Harrison, Barbara Heidenreich, Ron Hines, and others, I've subscribed to a couple of free new letters from Chet Womach, Jessica Harrison, and Michael Joseph; and I've read a number of ebooks from Amazon (list at bottom). Oh, and I can't get enough of watching other people's YouTube uploads.

I've purchased a large cage and a large roll-around perch. I'm shopping for a large playground and an outdoor aviary.

I've taken all the training advice I've gathered and am trying it out on Nigel. I'd rather he suffer through my mistakes than Mardy. So far I am concerned that I may have spoiled Nigel.

I work from home 75% of the time and will have Mardy's playground in my office. His/her cage will be in our finished basement where (s)he can sleep uninterrupted by our evening activities--I have three adult children living at home so it can stay rather noisy until late at night.

I've contacted a local avian vet and have begun corresponding with her. I will schedule a health check and will have Mardy sexed sometime in June. Once I know his/her gender I'll be able to use the right pronouns and will not have to worry about whether (s)he is upset by my mistake.

I'll be lurking in the forum reading everything I can so I can ask meaningful questions. I'll post a couple of pictures in the gallery.

I'm considering the playground at [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Super-Pet-Activity-Center-Playground/dp/B000TZ1XCU/ref=pd_sbs_k_1"]Amazon.com: Super Pet EZ Care Activity Center Playground for Medium and Large Birds: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]. I'd appreciate input from anyone that might be familiar with it.

I'm considering the aviary at 110"x62" Large Walk in Aviary Bird Cage - Walk In Aviaries by Bird Cage Mart. Again, I'd appreciate input from anyone familiar with the product or the reseller.

And I attempted to buy “All About Macaws” by Jessica Harrison. This turned out to be a scam, but after numerous emails and logging two trouble tickets at the publishers web site, Pay Pal finally refunded my money.

Yes, welcome Mike. Your bird is going to be one lucky fellow. With all the stuff your buying and all the studying your doing, will be of great help to you and your friend. But I would also like to say RELAX, you will enjoy the experience a lot more. I know your feeling like an expectant father right now, but try and think of it as a fun experience for both of you. You'll make plenty of mistakes, but that is all part of the growing process. So, relax a little and enjoy the process and things that are about to come. With sites like this, your already ahead of the game.
