:green1: Hi...My name is Tina... my husband danny and i originally joined this forum to start looking for a new cherry headed conure.. We had one Harry aka Chicken who my husband had had for over 25 years. chicken was probably about 3 years old They have been through alot together. I meet them back in summer of 2000. In the beginning chicken DID NOT LIKE ME... NOT AT ALL. it took some time...many many episodes of dancing while watching ellen and he started to become my friend. I never ever got to do half of what danny did with chicken because he scared me. He bites HARD!!! He passed away last month. I never thought I would miss him as much as I do. I can only imagine the feeling it was for danny to loose his best friend. Because when he needed someone to talk to Chicken was ALWAYS there. Well Danny and I looked and looked only to fine that the best way was to go through a rescue. We went to a "Bird Parenting Class" sort of say to even be considered to get A sun conure. Chicken was a cherry headed conure. We thought about it and decided to go to the class. The class was 2 hours along and it was a 2 hour drive each direction. Well I was still looking for a cherry headed conure... and i found one about 1 hour past the class and thought we would go up there and check him out too. Well the day of the class came, We went I learned ALOT!! and found out that the sun conure we were looking was no longer for adoption. Well i told danny that we were still going to look at the other one and he was worried about not getting a chance at this one since they required a home visit. well I told him well you never know we got lost getting there.. We finally made it and she took us into this room. Full of birds And then we saw him.. "Rodeo Red" so young so beautiful.. He came right up to usso friendly. we spent some time with him and her other birds.. they all liked us.. I filled out the application she went over it and I asked her "what do We need to do to get him??" and she asked..so you have a cage with you. You can take him home with you. We did not So she got one together and we took him. We have had him now for 9 days. He is funny He is moody he is spoiled he is not like chicken!! He eats veggie and fruits He eats different Pellets mixed with some other parrot food. OMG chicken was not at all like this.. I get up early each morning and cut fresh fruit and veggies in the morning and wash out the bowls for the next day before I go to bed. I mix his food together every couple of days as he is on a strict diet.. He used to be a seed junkie. I have even made a happy hut. by hand at that. anyway HE LOVES US TOO!!! Im sure that I am going to have questions so I will be asking and hi rodeo red says hello too.. As i write this my husband is trying to teach rodeo red to quack. and hes doing to or at least trying to...:green1:

Its a sweet story about Chicken!!! Im so happy you guys have found a sweet baby to adopt! Unfortunately I don't have that kind of luxury to find a adoption center near by me. They're all too far away and needed a in home visit, but im too far away no one would come...lol. so I either take in unwanted or I buy them.

I have a 6 month old Green Cheek Conure her name is Abby. I also have a cat named Chloe'.
I enjoyed your story a happy ending for you both and rodeo red! I'am glad you adopted and did not buy from a pet store!! I have a Green Cheek Conure whos name is Abby like you i enjoy all my time with her. If i don't open her cage door in the morning when i get up she slams her doors. They have such amazing personalities. Rodeo Red is beautiful!! This is the best place to ask questions and have them answered!! I am happy for you and your husband!! Good Luck and all the love!!
