Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
Hello all!

It's been a while since I made a post so thought I'd give a brief update for those who still have interest in myself!

Well the past couple months have been a bit hectic. I had my previous car finally hit the point where it wasn't worth repairing anymore so have splashed out about £1000 above my budget on a nice shiny newer car (from this decade and everything!) so that's a nice new drain on my wallet!

Outside of that I finally got my butt down to the doctor's over some stuff and got finally diagnosed with a 'General anxiety disorder' and depression which they have set up some therapy for me in the next month which should help.

I decided for a while not to look at getting another pet but lately have felt myself wanting one again (I'm waiting to go through therapy and what-not first) and once cleared from that and feeling better in myself I'm gonna take a more serious look at it. Funny thing is I've found myself being more open to the concept of getting a rescue CAG or TAG having recently broken my 'big bird virginity' though of course Conures are still in my top spot for parrots. I do think if I get another parrot I would get a new flight cage instead of the one Rio had as I feel I would prefer a wider cage and with some moving around know a spot I would love to put a cage

Also I meant to post this a while ago but I went to a nice place called birdworld not too long ago. It's sort of like an avian zoo and they have a system for taking in and caring for pet parrots who can't be cared for anymore and whilst having a look around I made a new friend. Scott I can see why you're such a fan of Goffin's now because they are pretty darn cute.

(Yes I did get a little bite, broke skin but not too bad)

I'm sure you already know this but when searching for therapist, it's not one size fits all. Every therapist is different and some might just not work for you. I've been diagnosed with generalized anxiety and depression and around 8 years elapsed before I found a therapist I thought worked for me. I wish you luck with everything and treatment can be stressful especially when it seems like it isn't working, but keep trying and don't let it get you down.

Glad to hear things are going well! Repairing a car is never any fun but sometimes the best solution is an upgrade.

Always good to hear from you bro. Hope the therapy is what you need to get right. Someday a very lucky parrot is gonna be your best buddy.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Nice update! Love to see younger folks express interest in autos. Sometimes an older vehicle becomes a money-pit and best to replace with a newer used car after the initial owner ate the depreciation.

Glad to see you'll be receiving some therapy initially rather than a fistful of meds only. (the way it often works in the U.S.) Sometimes a combination of both is most effective.

A good plan to wait a while for a bird until situated. Never too early to determine the ideal species and make hopeful plans for the future. Continuing to visit Birdworld seems fun and offers variety. Yeah, Goffins! Hopefully he will remember you more fondly next time and not bite. They are a cockatoo that seems to carry less "baggage" than others.

I don't even think they bit out of frustration, I think they were preening me and got a little too excited over some human contact.

Thanks all for the encouragement, I'm sure it will all work out, it often does!

Yeah the car was getting to that point where it just kept getting more and more problems, but for a car I bought for next to nothing it served its purpose and now I have something I actually wanted instead of just whatever would do

A good chance that Goffins will remember you. Almost spooky how they make associations.

My second car left me on the side of the road one too many times! Had it towed to a dealer and made sort of an impulse purchase of a used and far more reliable Honda. Gave me a token few hundred $ as trade it went straight to the wrecking yard! I had to make monthly payments for the first time, but it was so worth it!

Welcome back :) I hope all goes well with your new therapist and life in general. My doctor suggested I see a therapist, but I got Yoda instead. I think Yoda has been a heck of a lot more help than the therapist would've been. ;)
