Frozen food?

I've read a lot of times now about making different bird meals and freezing portions for later, and I've read freezing purchased foods to prevent moths hatching out of it etc. But I don't think I've seen anything about thawing or serving temperatures.

Do birds generally like frozen stuff or do they even care about temperature? We don't want to give very hot foods, I know that much... But would there be any danger such as hypothermia if their food is served cold? I was thinking a frozen berry might be a nice treat but I'd hate to have my bird suffer from eating it. I guess a cockatiel might find brain freeze a little less amusing than I do...

My ekkie likes it warm. What I do is put his little dinner portion into a watch glass ( what all those cooking shows put their herbs in for demos, small glass bowls) , submersed in water, and then into the microwave for 45 seconds to one minute, depending on what I'm thawing. Sicker stuff like berries go for about a minute. But chopped up stuff only needs 40 to 45 seconds

My Amazon likes some things frozen and some things warm, some things get served at room temperature. It just depends on your individual bird. I probably wouldn't serve a whole meal frozen, but an occasional frozen berry or (I have a Yo Nana for making frozen fruit into ice cream like desserts) a spoonful of frozen fruit won't hurt. My girl loves the Yo Nana fruit we have in the evenings.

She tends to like her breakfast warm or at least room temperature, so I heat it in the microwave 1 serving at a time.

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
I suppose trying to go back to what they would do in the wild is a good indication.

I wouldnt assume they eat frozen food but saying that you try keeping Plum out of the ice cream if it's about!

I do similiar to Chris-md and either defrost and warm in the microwave or get a pack out the night before and put in the fridge but I still like to warm a little in the micro.
