So both of my quakers are little jerks when it comes to trying pellets, and honestly I dropped it at this point and just throw in a small amount of pellets (Harrisonā€™s, Roudybush, or Zupreem) in their food dish in case they ever want some.

Anyways, the problem is this: Iā€™m running low on their Higgins California Blend seeds and I was wondering if there are any other brands that are better for them nutrition/variety wise? They get the seed mix + pellets + a bought mix of over 75 different dehydrated fruits, veggies, and a small amount of nuts. I really just want to cover my bases lol.

Zoopreem has some nice seed mix with pumpkin seeds and stuff.
I just got a new pellet, it's under diet and the the thread is new pellets. Even my seed eater Penny ate some! You could give them a try. I've totally forgotten the name.... I'm too tired to get up a d look!!

I saw that thread earlier today actually! I even put it on my shopping list for tomorrow... think it was All Living Things conure/lovebird baked pellets or something or other.

I didnā€™t even think about Zupreem Sensible Seed! Thanks, Laurasea!

So... I tried the oven baked pellets and they were grudgingly picked at, but the quakers absolutely HATE the new Zupreem Mix. Iā€™ve also been weighing Bluebell (as Avi isnā€™t quite that trusting yet) and Iā€™ve noticed a fair drop in weight (100g to 94ish in five days).

Iā€™ve already ordered the old mix tonight so it should be in by the end of this week. How these boys make me worry!

Once you have a break through on them trying new stuff you will be off and running!
I put new foods in a big dish on top of the cage, and let them explore on their own. They think they discovered it! I also have my birds used to me hand feeding them. I hand feed a few of what they were used to eating, then I hand feed something they love but don't get often, then I hand feed the new thing. By this point their are trained to thinking I better get over there and see what she's got! They will at least beak touch it. Then they might run away like omg that's gross! But then they come to their big plate and check it out again later. They never know what I'm going to offer, could be a pellet, could be a seed, it a veggie, or piece if scrambled egg, or tiny piece if bread ..
Doing this has my new Pikachu eating veggies after two weeks! He had eaten broccoli, hit peppers, green beans , eggs, cranberries, cherries and more. He now runs to the plate to see what new stuff is there.
