hi,i often see toys made with painted children blocks come by and i wonder if it is safe?
many swear it is, but well it's painted and i don't know what kind of wood.
But apparently if it is safe for kids it is safe for fids,i don't agree.
What do you think?it would make wood shopping a lot easier.

I personally stay away from children's wooden, painted blocks. What may be safe for an infant/child (with possibly no teeth yet), may not be safe for a destructive parrot.

I've used Legos and plastic rings before for making toys - with absolutely no ill effects.

I use painted kids blocks, the wooden ones. Just make sure they are newer, because then they have safe, non toxic paint because they expect kids to eat them!

I make my own, much cheaper and safer. Several good threads about dyeing pine blocks for toys.
