Leo the opera star

I finally got this on video! He only does this with a few songs, and this is one of them. It has me in stitches every time.

Aaaa an Opera Star in the house! Some people have all the luck!

Hilarious! It is quite evident Leo is responding to the strange sound of opera!! LOL!!

And a leggiero tenor at that!

Now that's adorable! How old is Leo? I ask because my male Senegal, Kane, is just about 5 months old, I've had him for 2 months, and he just started (3-4 days ago) doing the same thing with his wings Leo is doing in that video when he gets excited about something! About 3 days ago I woke up in the morning and let all 4 of my birds out of their sleeping cages and they all typically fly downstairs to their stands as soon as I open their sleeping cages to get their breakfast. But on that day and every day since Kane hopped on top of his sleeping cage, started making these excited little baby noises (you could tell he was all excited, he was smiling and his eyes were popping out of his head) and I had him step up onto my finger. He then started doing that thing with his wings that Leo does when he walks down the ladder. It's like he's opening his wings up a bit and holding them away from his body, kind of opening and closing them quickly...He's done it every morning since, and he also did it when I asked him if he wanted to go for a car ride yesterday, and the entire time he was in the car looking out the window...

I'm still learning the Senegal sounds and motions, they are very different than my other birds, and Kane is the first Poicephalus I've had, so I'm trying to figure out what he's thinking...The main reason I ask is yesterday when we were in the car I stopped at a convenience store, left the car running, and ran in to get a bottle of water. When I got back in the car Kane was on his car perch looking out the window, wings slightly open and out (I'm calling this his "happy wings"), and I asked him if he wanted a drink. So he jumped over onto my forearm and I poured some water into his travel dish, and before he took a drink he started head bobbing, and before I could say "Oh Kane don't do that" he regurgitated for me. So he was a little too happy, lol. I've always associated a bird regurgitating with hormones and as a sexual thing, but Kane is still pretty young at 5 months, and besides the head bobbing and the regurgitation itself, he's shown no other breeding or sexual behaviors.

I don't want to encourage sexual behavior in him, but I also don't want to discourage what seems to be just really happy/excited behavior in him..

Leo is about 10 years old. Senegals are really animated and super expressive. It would take a novel to explain all his little quirks. You're really going to enjoy watching Kane grow and develop his personality.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I think you're right, I really am going to enjoy it because it's obviously all new for me! I'm 37 years old and have had birds since I was 6, but he is definitely an enigma to me! He has all these little head motions, mouth motions, eye expressions, and now the wings-none of which I've seen in any of my other birds. He is definitely much more animated than my other birds, even the Quaker!
