I got Larry yesterday =D He is looking a bit rough, I think partly because he is going through a HUGE molt and partly because of a poor diet so hopefully with a bit of love he will be as handsome as can be.

I didnt get home until it was dark so I left him to settle in and went and had a chat to him here and there. He was sold because his owners didnt have the time for him and so he hadnt had a huge amount of handling lately. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst preparing to spend weeks or months trying to earn his trust. I was warned he was a bit nippy. Well we got him out this evening after work and it has been going great!! He steps up without fuss, sometimes with a little warning nip but also without. He is actually really sweet! Luke has him out now chilling on the couch and Larry is playing with his shirt and trying to steal food on the way to his mouth =D He is taking treats, dancing, chatting away, pulling out Lukes beard hair (mwahahaha) and is very settled.

I will move him into a bigger cage once he has settled in properly, probably on Saturday. The one issue is his diet! He has been fed straight sunflower seeds and a seed mix with colored pellets of which he picks the seeds out of! This is my first challenge with a bird who wont eat what they should so wish me luck =D
I will get him DNA sexed some time too

Keep us posted. It will be a challenge but once he gets a taste of the good stuff, he'll adjust nicely.

Haha what a cute fluffy! Hopefully he'll see the other birds eating and brave new foods quickly. :)

Congratulations, Sophia! And despite your request for luck, I very much doubt you'll be needing it. Your little guy is in VERY good and capable hands with you. Just make sure to take it slow with the transition to healthier foods and I'm sure he'll be just fine.
