What type of bird is this?

Hi there,

I do not own any birds (I might like to own some budgies in the future) and I was at a really neat exotic bird store the other day just looking at their birds for fun.

They had a few parrots in a large cage that didn't have a label (I think they were boarding them, not selling them) and I was wondering what they were because I've never seen this type before and I couldn't find any similar pictures on Google.

They were mostly yellow, larger than a budgie, but smaller than a conure. And they had red eyes and red flecks all down their backs and maybe some on their wings too. They had relatively long tails. There was also one other bird in the cage with them that seemed to be the same species, but it was pale pink (almost kind of a dusty pink color) and it had gray flecks all down its back and wings. It was not a rosy bourke and I don't think the yellow ones were kakarikis because they didn't have red on their heads or faces.

Can anyone guess what these birds might be based on my description?

Its hard without having a pic to look at. You could also ask the shop keepers what they are.

Are you sure it wasn't a Rose Opaline Fallow Bourke?

The other sounds like an opaline red rump parakeet.

Thanks! I didn't even think to ask the shopkeepers. :p

I'm pretty sure the pink one wasn't a bourke - it didn't have those full gray wings like the one you linked to.

However, I do think you nailed it with the second one. The yellow ones look a lot like the the second one you linked!
