We are going on a 15 hour road trip with Juno this weekend. We have a travel crate and a separate travel cage. The furthest she has been is a 30ish minute trip to the vet in which she does great. Any tips would be appreciated.

We used to take Latka on a 3 hour trip every weekend in the summertime. As long as he had food and water, he was just happy to be with his people. It seemed harder on the people than the bird.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
I moved 1850 miles, over 3 days, with five large birds... no carriers or cages. Just car seat perches and shoulders. Poop blankets under them and over the seats to protect the seats from poop.

Mine love the car.

My zons love the car also. However some stress if not "home" by dark. I'd keep the trips to daylight hours if they start stressing. (you'll know if they are vocal after dark, whinning, begging type calls). Sometimes a "night light" will help eliminate night frights and help to keep them calm in their cages. I learned a lot transporting birds to bird show around the country. Nowdays i plan on stopping before dark when traveling with birds.

I have a real problem with not having pets secure in the car and I'll tell you why. My partner, who is an excellent driver was taking her mom's LSC2 back to her mom. The bird was being very good on the headrest. Traffic got heavy and she was at a complete standstill. The car behind her wasn't paying attention and rear-ended her which flipped her car around and then he hit her again on the from right panel. The bird was thrown right into the windshield.

I don't tell that story to start a debate, just a cautionary tale, something to consider.

We will be out after dark and before. We are gonna make the trip in one day. She will be in a small pet carrier. We will get her out for breaks periodically. I am planning on bringing wet fruit like watermelon and such to keep her hydrated and of course pellets.

Pepsi and sprite, both are American male budgies
I have mine in a small travel cage and strap them in with a seatbelt . I wouldn't put water in the cage as it could spill and make a mess, on stops give them a chance to drink . Feed them watery fruits before so they don't get that thirsty. Also , you most likely won't need them but have a few documents like proof of ownership and stuff, but you don't have to. Hope you have a great time !

I checked with our A vet and he says I don't need any paperwork.
