My almost 3 year old Jenday conure Korra has been increasingly aggressive towards our male papillon. They used to get along fine, she'd even enjoy preening his ears from time to time. He's a very good dog, so I used to allow it only if I was right beside them keeping an eye on things. Recently, if I start to show any attention to him, hold him, pet him, even say his name, she starts a screaming fit. This past month it's been escalating to her flying across the room, landing on him and biting him. She's even bitten me by accident a few times when I try to intervene. I put her in her cage whenever she does this, so I can tend to the dog without another incident. My sweet pup is now terrified of her, I can barely have them in the same room. Korra is usually a very kind and gentle bird, friendly to strangers and has never bitten anyone, including me, otherwise. It seems to be a jealousy or protective issue. Is there anything I can do to stop it, or help her understand that the dog isn't a threat to her or me? I'm a first time bird owner, and have never dealt with this kind of problem before, any help out there?
