27 year old ringneck has stopped eating, Help Please

My 27 year Indian Ringneck has stopped eating, is puffed up, She rarely opens her eyes, most times she won't answer when I call her name, I have had her since she was 9 wks old, I have her in a dark room and the heat is on 85 (I live in Florida), She hasn't eating since early yesterday morning, What can I do??

Please get her to a avian vet immediately! This sounds like a very sick birdie.

I have calls am trying, My elderly mother just got out of the hospital for major back surgery 3 days ago, she can not be left alone, needs 24 hour care, I got a neighbor to stay with her while I ran home, to check on her again, am trying to get her there, just wanted to know it there is anything I can do in the meantime,

Unfortunately that's the only answer we have since none of us are vets and this sounds serious.

Honestly only a vet can help with something this serious, and the longer you take to get her there the less the chance to help her. Ask the neighbour to stay with your mom a bit longer if at all possible, the birds life may depend on how soon you can get her to professional assistance. Otherwise ask a friend to take her to the vet if you can not leave home. But it can not wait. [emoji22]

Yes if you need to stay with your mom then that's fine, I agree with milo, maybe the best option would be to ask a friend to take the bird to the vet. I've done this with my fiance mom then I just called her so she could answer the vets questions.

Unfortunately, at that age, she may just be at the end of her natural life. Their lifespan is only 20-30 years, and it is not uncommon for older animals to stop eating and sleep a lot towards the end

I don't mean to be so negative, but it's something that's a very real possibility in a bird of that species and that age and to be perfectly honest, there's nothing a vet can do about age.

Kiwibird may be correct, but please make an effort to get your bird to an avian vet ASAP. At that age it is a long-term family member and deserves a benefit of the doubt.
