Hi Gang,

Have a question regarding a behavior of my Senegal parrot ( Birdell).

He is quite Comfortable now in his Flying, and does retreat very well now.
Much better than the others. Sometimes I think his confidence level has gone to his head. As I can call him on demand and he'll come right to me, but not before he takes a slight change of flight path and Bop my grey on the head as he's flying before landing on my wrist.

My question is....is it rather unusual for a Senni to fly/ hover over a Blue front Amazon (Poppie) almost like a mating stance, then fly back to it's perch for a bit, then back over to do it again ?? A couple times Poppie almost seemed submissive. But most of the time she shoo's him away.
I find it hard to think two birds of these types can find attractiveness. I'm wondering if this is not rather an establishment of dominance (My senni can be a bit of a bully, but get's along well with the Zon)....like a pecking order or something. Almost looks as if he's trying to mate with poppie.

Never seen this kind of behavior between two species like this.

Retreat?? Do you mean recall??

And it sounds like Birdell is harassing Poppie- NOT in love with her [emoji57] you need to get this behavior under control before someone gets hurt....just because Poppie shoos him away now doesn't mean she won't get annoyed and tired of his harassment.

I'd take measures to keep Birdell away from the other birds, or not leave him unattended now that you know he has full flight capabilities and an attitude towards the other birds. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for Pois to antagonize others given the chance. I was out of the room (not real long) and now Griffin has 2 missing toenails because of taunting Robin. I'm thankful it was nothing worse.

Also, the bopping the Grey on the head as he flies by is dominance. Please be warned...

Yeah Meant recall....Us British have different ways of expressing our wording. For example when we say garden, you people think of a vegetable garden right? We refer to it as your yard. Your "boot" is the trunk" of your car....lol.

Anyway, no she doesn't seem to "harass" her, they actually sit next to each other and will play and eat together on a triple perch stand. They can sit for hours by each other.

Birdell comes when called to me, and point to the perch and he'll fly back to it. Quite good at this. The behavior with birdell and Poppie resembles (lol) mating. Strange. very strange.

Now Greyson and birdell, well they stay away from each other....they all have full freedom and even at night they are right next to each other and Open cage, they never bother each other, it's when I have one or the other on me that the other will fly to me and want to fight the other bird. A jealousy thing I believe.
