We are in the processing of moving from Ohio to California this October. We will be bringing out parrots with us on the long drive and will need to stay in hotels along the way (36 hour drive).

Does anyone know of parrot friendly places to stay?

Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
Residence Inn by Marriott. They are by far the best pet friendly hotel chain in the US, and their rates are pretty reasonable too. The only way I would change that recommendation is if you also have a giant breed dog, and then I would switch to La Quinta.

I was going to say La Quinta Inns and Suites, in general they don't care what type of pet you have and they charge the same pet fee regardless of whether it's a dog or a bearded dragon or a bird. I've started staying at a La Quinta in Cleveland when I go for a long weekend, which happens at least 10 times a year or more. I stayed at a Marriott in Cleveland prior, but that particular Marriott stayed "pet-friendly", but changed their policy to only dogs. Marriott (Residence Inns) in general are very good, as stated above, but typically the La Quinta Inns and Suites are cheaper per night to begin with. And I have never had an issue when I've stayed with my birds, dogs, or my bearded dragon at any La Quinta (or Residence Inn either). I actually prefer the Residence Inns and Suites myself, because if I'm on a business trip or going to be staying longer than a single night and it's not a leisure vacation where I want to eat out every night, I much prefer to bring food to cook in the hotel and stay in with my birds/dogs.

I think this question really depends on where you are going to be staying and what hotels/motels are available in those towns/cities that you'll be staying in. If there is not a Residence Inn or a La Quinta where you'll be staying then you'll obviously need other options. The best way to figure this out is to Google search "pet-friendly hotels" in each town/city you'll be staying in. Or if there is a hotel booking service you like to use, like Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc. then I'd just go onto their website and search for pet-friendly rooms in each town/city you'll be staying in on the dates you'll be there. It's easy on most of those sites to filter down to only the hotels that are available on your chosen dates and that will allow pets...Just make sure that you call each individual hotel and verify that they allow birds, because it seems that a lot of hotels use the term "pet-friendly" to mean "we allow dogs under 50 pounds and that's it". They really should say "dog-friendly" instead. And it also seems that each individual location of some hotel chains have their own policies. A lot of them are franchised, so each individual owner makes their own policies and rules that are completely different than the corporate/national policies.
