Hey everyone!
I just received a Java Tree playstand for my 2 Macaws. They have been on it for a couple hours and I have never seen them so happy. It is something I have wanted for them for a couple years now.

Here is my problem. Java wood does have cracks, which is normal once they dry out. They are not large cracks at all but my boys have found them to be the most interesting parts of the tree. As we all know, once they find something interesting, they are gonna start prying at it. They have already torn a few strips off of it and I have removed them from it until I can find a product that might keep them from destroying it. I dont expect it to last forever, but at $500, I had hoped it would last for a long time (couple years at least).

Anyone have any suggestions on how to treat it? I sprayed it with the Anti-Plucking spray called Cease, but it doesnt slow them down. How about the Grannicks Bitter Apple for Birds? I dont have experience with it and hate to buy something that doesnt work.

I thought about tightly wrapping the areas with a thin rope, which might provide them with a better grip, but they might get their nails caught in it.

I appeciate any suggestions!

I would contact the people you bought it from and let them know what is happening.. @ $500 it should last for several years if not for ever. Let us know what they say.
