Two budgies- Edith & Azalea
I have two budgies that i got last summer. The pet store we got them from said they were both girls so i just assumed that they were. Recently my brother found out that his guinea pig is a girl after being told that she was a boy so thats been making me curious about my birds genders. The video im watching says that their nostrils will be blue if theyā€™re boys and when i look at mine, theyā€™re DEFINITELY blue. Edith more than Azaleas. I attached a link to an instagram post i made of me showing my budgies and explaining my thought process through it because i was having a CRISIS lmao šŸ˜ I always assumed that they were my baby girls, but apparently i might be a boy mom!!

So your green budgie is definitely a male. No doubt there.
The blue budgie is probably male too, though itā€™s kinda hard for me to see his cere that well in the video.
Females ceres will turn pale blue when not in breeding condition though.

Could you maybe post a closer picture of the blue budgies cere?

Yeah, Iā€™d say probably a male too. About how old are your budgies?

The green budgie is definitely an older male. The blue one looks like a younger female, as they have light blue ceres. If it really is a girl, her cere will turn brown when she gets older.

It definitely makes sense. Their behavior has always been different. Edith (green) is always super singy, bouncy, and lively while Azalea (blue) is much quieter and tends to get annoyed easily lol. Azalea is much bigger than Edith though which has confused me cause ive read that males are the ones who tend to be bigger. The size is quite noticeable. Is it possible for males to be smaller than females?

Itā€™s quite possible Azalea has some English budgie mixed in which could increase his/ her size!
