Hi! I have a question. I buy parrot vitamins for my birds. I have several. My question is this, can parrots have vitamin supplements that have been marketed for poultry? They are less expensive and I can get them locally, rather than having to order them on line. I also raise chickens so I get the vitamins for them from the local Atwood’s, however, my parrot vitamins I have to order online. Trust me, I will not comprise my bird health to save a few dollars, but if the poultry vitamins are adequate then I’d like to switch because they are easier to attain.

I actually don't recommend vitamin supplements at all. With a healthy pellet-and-chop diet there is no need for them and too many vitamins can even be harmful.

So very true. Commonly we only add a supplement if there is a 'found' defiance as part of a Full Spectrum Blood test. Been a long time, but memory still hold, Chickens receive supplements to support their active egg laying.

Agree with my friends above.
I've seen liver failure in birds overdose on vitamin. As well as health issue from an imbalance in ratios of some vitamin/minerals

o i see judge set up

But sometimes its good review and get tactful tips
Unsure what you meant, I think it was:
'It's good to judge cage setup and get tips if needed.'

Can we get back on track and be more respectful to the OP now, please?

Wait, wait, we're not being disrespectful, we are simply asking to see the setup.

I know, you're being kind and no bad intent, it's ok. But I don't know if the OP really WANTS all these posts, unrelated to their original question.
Yeah, maybe not, but often there are people saying 'oh, what should my budgie eat' and then I ask for the setup and turns out it's HORRIBLE.

Also just a little concerned about the OP calling Macaws McCaws

Me too.
I would like to see it too, because they ask about vitamins which are not good; but let's not make assumptions about every other aspect of this person's care just because they were wrong about one?

True, but I still am concerned and would like to see their setup.

I will admit liquid vitamins helped me a ton when all of my budgies had a pretty bad vitamin deficiency, but I still dosed below the recommended dosage, just to be safe. I also really don't recommend it, but because I couldn't get them to a vet for a week and they were dangerously low, that's all I had. It cured itself.
