Dear all

my Cockatiels (pair one) laid an egg on the floor of the cage and it broke as i had not introduced the nest... i took the egg and dis infected that particular area.

my cockatiles (pair two) laid an egg yesterday and its in the nest today i had to moved their cage as new cages were to be installed and room need a little rearrangement. i did my best to minimize the disturbance.

i need your help regarding dietary needs and things i must do to provide best breeding environment

regards

What is their current diet? What size cages are you using? Are the cages kept clean of debris, food and droppings? What about sunlight or full spectrum lighting?

I feed my tiel pairs a mixture of seeds and pellets combined. I also give them fresh fruits and veggies as well. Provide mineral block and cuttle bone, they will go through them pretty good. I use pine shavings for nesting materials, the fine ones, NOT the ones they use for rabbits and such, the ones that's kinda sharp to the touch don't use these! The fine ones are soft to the touch. I place them into the nest box and I pat them down so the eggs don't disappear cause they will sink into the materials. You want the eggs to be above. They don't really mind the disturbance AS LONG AS they know you well. I would NOT suggest in changing new cages or moving them around when they're nesting. Sometimes they will abandon their eggs and not nest period. One thing I do on a daily basis is take a spray water bottle and I lightly spray the eggs and let the momma go back to sit on them. It provides humidity! You will have higher success rate in hatching the chicks if you do this. And I've noticed that my chicks hatch out at a earlier day then the regular specified 19days + I've had chicks hatching as early as 14 days. Good Luck!

pair one is not interested in nesting now ... i dont see them going in or coming out ...

there current diet is seed mix with one chunk of apple pealed and without core... along with any vegetable of the day. alternate days i offer some rich greens like mint leaves
