Pico - yellow sided GCC
hi all!

i'm just flipping through threads and reading a lot about hormones in conures when they reach a certain age. Can anyone tell me about bird hormones? Pico is 1 and 1/2 and clearly I'm in for some changes at some point. i'm nervous to know what kind of changes. Pico loves me so very much, he has since day 1. It would break my heart if one day his hormones made him aggressive towards me.

so can y'all share some personal stories? maybe attach a link? or just give me the low down on hormones - what to expect and when?

Thanks!

This is such an important topic that I actually have written an article on it. of course there are many others out there but here is what I think everyone should know about handling hormones in their parrots :)

To be clear, there is puberty, then there are hormones. (Yes puberty is the first hormonal event). You're asking about puberty, one time event that can last maybe a year or two. Once you get past puberty they settle down and are less demonic. After puberty, you deal with hormones once a year for a couple weeks.
