Kiwi Stardust - a green cheek conure
Kiwi had flown down to the floor, something she usually does, and I'll usually walk over and pick her up before she disappears into the black hole called under the couch.

Well I walked over to her (as usual) and then all of a sudden her wings went up, her head came down and she charged at my toes beak open. Luckily I placed my hand in between her and my foot and she bit down - HARD! ( I am SO glad it wasn't my toe!)

She did this twice that day, but the first time she's gone attacking like that ever!

Does anyone else's conure absolutely hate feet and toes? Is this normal? It's not like she's never seen my feet!

It's normally for a lot of birds. I don't let my birds on the floor, so I'm not sure if they would attack or not, but I've heard that story a lot, especially from cockatoo owners :)

LOL, Fiji HATES FEET! we have to keep a blanket on the ottoman to cover our feet up with, because if she even glimpses a bare foot, she will attack! Although NOW she has figured out how to burrow under the blanket to get to the foot. At first I thought it was just the toes, but now she is also biting any part of the foot she can get to. She'll puff up, open her beak wide, and RUN towards any foot she sees!

Sundance is oblivious to feet, but Fiji is a total hater!

It probably depends on the conure. I always walk barefoot in the apartment and my sun just ignores my feet. If I have socks on, he'd try to shred them though but that's how he is with all my clothing articles.

For Aleta, it depends on what the feet are doing. If they are moving quickly, she attacks. More often bare feet. However, if I am standing still with bare feet and she can't manage to climb up to my shoulder, she will sit on my big toe like a perch and shift her weight from foot to foot until I pick her up. Socked feet on the coffee table have never stopped her from going near them.

Perhaps you just moved quicker than Kiwi is used to. :)

None of my birds go after feet... and the only ones that *really* like being on the ground would be the cockatiels. They are ground foragers though.

Chipper loves to attack my toes if I wiggle them or am stretching out after work. Funny until he tries to pry your toenail off :(

dusty doesn't mind feet. In fact if he's on the floor and wants me to pick him up he will run over to my foot, climb onto it then make his way up my pants. Although this behavior is just with me. If my boyfriend is involved.. doesnt wont hesitate to attack any part of his body :p

Blaze ~ Sun Conure
Blaze doesn't really mind my feet. She's fluttered onto the floor before, and I'll sometimes stick my foot out towards her so she hops right on. Then, I'll just lift her up via foot elevator until she figures she can climb the rest of the way.
