Today I finally have enough time to take Elvis outside with me... Enough time, but the weather is not cooperating. It was (and currently still is) in the 90s today! I can't stand the heat, so I don't think my birds can stand the heat either. Elvis was so excited, he was really looking forward to coming outside, but I guess Mother Nature had other plans. Since I have Drivers Ed Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, I don't have enough time to bring my birds outside with me, the rest of the week is when I try to make up for the out-of-cage/bonding-time with my flock. I have even more time since I lost my job.
On the other hand, tomorrow shouldn't be as hot, and I'll bring them outside then.
Also, Elvis is having issues regarding his ability to fly. His flight feathers aren't growing in correctly, therefore he can't fly, he drops like a rock. Because of this, I'm going to take him out and have short periods of time with his leash and/or harness off. (Please no hate for my decision.)
I've been practicing with him by not holding onto his leash and since he can't fly, I feel better about my decision.
Elvis has been separated from the budgies due to the budgies being territorial. It is breeding season for the budgies so I can understand why they were fighting him. Thing is, Elvis is a coward and will flee instead of fight, he can't defend himself therefore making him a perfect target for the budgies and Jordan. I'm looking for a cage within my price range to temporarily separate them. Elvis in one cage, the budgies in another, Jordan in another. In the mean time, I've divided one cage, Elvis in one side Jordan in the other (it would have been too small for a pair of budgies, since I can't divide the cage evenly)
Elvis is an amazing companion, and I love him to death!
